It happens so gently. The busyness of September settles into the rhythm of October and before we know it we can feel the cool breezes caress our brow. That's when we know it's time to take a day trip up into the mountains to visit the North Carolina apple orchards. There the air is cooler and sweeter. We hear bees buzzing, children laughing, and adults oohing and ahhing over the apple donuts. It's hard to believe another year has slipped through our fingers as we reach for the ripe apple up in the tree. Picking the apples connects us to the earth again. We humans have been enjoying this practice since God planted the first apple trees. The crunch, the sweetness, the satisfaction, are a core memory that makes for delicious apple pies and amazing family memories. Enjoy this little linocut that holds big memories of sweet times.
