We learned so many lessons when our family moved to South Carolina in 2016. The free artwork I’m sharing with you today is inspired by one of those memories—one that still encourages me years later. I’ve added the wallpaper to my own laptop as a reminder to stay “in tune” during the busy holiday season, and I hope it brings a little peace and beauty to your days as well.

"Missing Their Songs" is ready for visitors 2/6/26 at the Simpsonville Fine Art Gallery

January was a month of steady making and focused studio time. Daily bird sketches from December evolved into watercolor studies, oil paintings, and color explorations, while teaching continued to fill the studio with energy. Dedicated Thursday painting days—six uninterrupted hours each week—allowed for deep creative focus on both small works and larger canvases. By the end of each session I was exhausted but grateful, thankful for a season of life shaped by attention, creativity, and quiet joy.
